The liquid which comes in small plastic containers, like the one Speedo made, can be quite expensive. I used quite a lot of those. Their packaging NEVER mention composition of the liquid. It is suspicious when you consider most other spray one can buy from supermarkets have descriptive content composition. I thought about it just one day and decided to find it out on that topic.

Quite a lot people suggest saliva as an alternative. I was told about it since my early age in swimming. Personally I don’t like the idea of spitting in public. Some of my swim mates do this often. Just I cannot accept this. So I keep on searching.

You know what I found out. The anti-fog liguid is basically just unscented natural soap!

He was 10 and I knew he was looking for more than a summer of day care and TV shows. So i wondered if SUMMER CAMP was the right place for my son.

by Brittany Flokstra

He was 10 and I knew he was looking for more than a summer of day care and TV shows. So i wondered if SUMMER CAMP was the right place for my son.

Today he is 15, and has gone to Swift Nature Camp for years and we are going to send him back again and again. Despite his ADHD and trouble at school, he loves it loves camp.

The counselors and directors at SNC have a great, hands-on approach to leadership, social skills development and confidence-building.

Jeff and Lonnie, along with enthusiastic counselors, provide an atmosphere that encourages positive life skills to be developed. My son has greater peer understanding and empathy, better self-confidence and trust, his leadership skills increased, an understanding of group dynamics and fair process and many other valuable relational skills.

I felt nervous, like any parent, sending a child to a place that I had never been to before, but it was really worth it! As I talked to Jeff and Lonnie over the phone I realized that the Discovery Camp was best or him and me. A special program for the First Time Going Camp

Their willingness to discuss any question I had and their understanding of my fears made the decision easy. My son took the bus there, but I picked him up at the end, so I got to see first-hand all of the wonderful places he got to explore.

His excitement for Swift was limitless. I’m not sure if he took a breath between stories on the whole 8 hour journey home!

The SNC website tells you everything you need to know and I love how the camp is set up. The cabins are by gender and age and do activities together, including laundry (!)

In the afternoons the campers can choose a variety of typical camp activities (arts & crafts, archery, swimming, horses and much more).

As an Environmental Camp, Swift Nature Camp is dedicated to awareness and nature preservation. The nature center has microscopes and a zoo. Campers can even bring their own pets from home. All nature programs are hands on and fun.

Of course there is plenty of laughter, games, campfires, food, sports, fun, drama, singing, etc. that makes overnight (residential) camp an experience one remembers for their entire life.

I appreciate that this camp is a general camp and not a “sports camp” or “math camp” or something else ultra specific. At Swift Kids get to be kids and experience all sorts of different activities with a diverse set of campers and counselors. So much more is learned than at a specialized camp.

My son has learned so much from SNC. We have noticed a big difference in his attitude, manners and abilities. He is more mature, pleasant and competent. These experiences and social education are worth any price.

As parents, we joke tit is easy to find math, reading, or science tutors but know one tutors in social skills. We were wrong! We found exactly what my son needed at exactly the right time in his life.

Please consider away camp for your child. You will be glad you did! And Check our Swift. I think what makes this such a special place is that it is a non-competitive, confidence-building camp where kids get to be kids. I know it is the best thing we ever did for our son.

A special Thank you to Lonnie and all the magnificent counselors, cooks, nurses, etc. We hope our son returns as a counselor when he is older (it is a new goal)!

You can also find more information on how to pick a summer camp at this website FINDING a CAMP

by Benedict Hunter

Staying active is an essential part of the equation for health and vitality. It isn’t just a solution for those who are overweight; it is a way of life for everyone who aspires to look and feel good.

There are a lot of simple activities one can do to stay fit such as walking or jogging, playing tennis with friends, or even mowing the lawn. However, if you are after muscle mass or great-looking abs, then spending some time in a gym will work for you.

Why Do You Exercise?

There are three reasons why people go to the gym:

* They’re carrying too much extra weight and decide to use exercise along with diet to reduce their body fat.

* They want to gain pounds in the form of muscle mass by weight training.

* They do it for fun and enjoy the atmosphere and company at the gym.

* A well-balanced fitness program should include cardiovascular and weight training exercises. These programs burn up a lot of calories and increase muscle-to-fat ratio to raise your metabolic rate to gain or lose weight.

What You’ll Get Out of the Gym

1. Exercise is one of the easiest ways to improve and protect your health from a slew of diseases and early death.

2. Regulate hormone levels that cause stress, fatigue, and other symptoms of an imbalanced system. Promote the production of endorphins, the hormones the create feelings of satiety and well-being.

3. A person engaged in an active lifestyle lives longer than one who is inactive and sedentary.

Working out to reach a desired level of fitness should be done progressively. Neither strength nor endurance can be achieved in a day but a sensible fitness program will eventually bring in tremendous benefits.

Eat to Complement Your Healthy Lifestyle

To maximize the rewards of a sensible exercise program, you should also have a diet program and a strong will to stick to it. Exercise and diet work hand in hand to get you in best shape and glowingly healthy at the same time.

It is possible to reach your fitness goals without expensive vitamins, protein shakes, or gym equipment. And you don’t have to give up the foods you love, either. Just eat them in moderation and engage in regular exercise to keep your metabolism up.

Nourish your body with foods that contain lots of vitamins, mineral and fiber. These can be derived from rice, oats, potatoes, legumes, nuts and cereals. However, the best sources of nourishment are found in fruits and vegetables which contain phytochemicals, micronutrients and enzymes essential in sustaining health.

Fats and oils get a lot of bad press, but they are actually a necessary part of a healthy diet. The trick is choosing the right kinds of fats and oils. Mono- and poly-unsaturated fats are beneficial to your health, but you should avoid animal fats as they can cause health problems.

Make Your Body a Temple

Alcohol and tobacco are harmful to your body and should be eliminated from your lifestyle. Smoking can lead to cancer a numerous other illnesses. Drinking too much is similarly dangerous and is particularly detrimental to the liver and blood pressure.

Good habits like diet and exercise take time and effort to take root. Just like a bad habit, once it takes hold, it will be just as hard to quit.

Have you ever dreamed of being in figure competitions? This article will show some proven tips to help your preparation for the contest. Learning how to prepare for a competition like this is very important and following these little known tips should go towards helping you succeed.

Food, glorious food – there are many parts to a successful figure competition diet. You should know what to consume, how much to consume, and when to eat it. Once again, this should be jotted down and you would be wise to keep a diary of your eating habits. It is also highly recommended that you consult a professional dietician who can assist in the preparation of a diet plan suited to you and your goals. There are many important components to your diet planning such as how far out from a figure contest do you begin dieting, how much carbs, protein, and fat should you consume, and how much water to drink.

Resistance/Weight Training – this involves a regular training routine in the gymnasium. Pick Out a time of day that fits your schedule, and get to the gym at least 4 or 5 times a week for your weights workout. Your personal trainer will be able to create a program that suits your body shape and your goals for the figure competition. Try to remember not to overtrain. It is nice to be enthusiastic and think you can do it all, but working out every single day of the week is not a great plan. Your body must have time to recover, so reserve at least 1 full day for your muscles to recuperate.

Hairstyles – although you should choose a hairstyle that you like, there are a few vital points to remember. Select a hair style that is becoming to your face and is cute and modern. One error that figure competitors make is to go for the prom type hair style where the hair is placed up. This works for bodybuilders, but for figure competitions it is a bit over the top. Your aim is to have a hair style that has shine, body, and volume.

Competition Suits – Your figure competition suit is one of your most essential accessories. Picking out just the right competition suit for your body type and skin tone can take a lot of time before you find the right one. The fit of the suit needs to be perfect so try on as many different ones as you can, in as many different colors as you can. You want to make sure you choose a figure contest suit that will do justice to the muscle-toned body you will be creating. Follow these few tips to help you prepare for your next women’s figure contest. You will then be able to feel more confident with your journey into the world of figure competitions.

Exercise videos are your keys to fat loss success. Exercise videos are convenient, easily accessible, and a time and money saver. No need to buy pricey and huge machines that eat up valuable home space. Exercise videos are a great way to see and learn how to use key movements for fat loss success.

Convenience is the key advantage to exercise videos. You can exercise whenever you want. Just play the video and you can start exercising. No need to deal with pushy sales staff at fitness gyms. No need to waste time driving to the gym, looking for parking, changing clothes, exercising, taking a shower, changing, then driving home. All you need is a space to workout in, play the video and begin. You can do it anytime you want to.

No need to spend on large bulky machines that take up space in your home. Get the results that you want by simply watching the video and doing the movements, all in the comfort of your own home.

Look forward to saving money. A very reasonable U$20 allows you to workout as often as you wish in the privacy and comfort of your own home. On the other hand, a gym membership is not only costly, but has hidden costs to it, like gas and parking expenses and travel time.

Exercise moves can be difficult to follow from a book or magazine article. With a video, we have the option of replaying any moves we didn’t quite get at our own pace as well as have the correct position visualized for us to follow.

The new crop of exercise videos are energetic and never boring. Filled with fun exercises that are motivating and clearly explained, the moves are meant to allow the viewer to easily follow them for fat loss success.

Easy explanations, good-looking models showing you how to move yourself to a healthier fit body. Usually, simple exercises are taught so you can do them easily, even without the video playing. It is a great way to start a healthy habit.

The real advantage of exercise videos is the convenience, saving time, saving money, no bulky expensive machines to buy and most of all you can do it anytime. Seeing how the movements are done lets you instantly learn the moves. Once you’ve mastered the moves, you won’t even need the video, you can do the exercises whenever you have the time. Exercise videos are a great way to start a healthy active lifestyle.

by Denise I Smithson

The New York Rangers acquired Blair Betts in the 2005-06 NHL Hockey season and he has been with them, centering on the defensive 4th line. He is one of the New York Rangers most consistent face-off men winning a more than losing them.

The New York Post wrote that Blair Betts and his teammate, Sjostrom, could be the best penalty kill tandem in Rangers history and they had a franchise high of 87.6 percent. He has also been declared one of the most underrated players in the league.

Betts played for the Calgary Flames from 1998 to 2005 before being drafted by the New York Rangers. His professional career began in 2001. Regardless of which team he plays on, the Edmonton native is well known as a strong defensive center.

Betts has come to the team at a tough time. The Rangers are experiencing their longest losing streak at the moment and the team is currently ranked bottom in the league. Blair Betts is a great performer on the ice, but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough to get the Rangers moving up through the ranks.

Betts has spent some time on the sidelines due to injuries, which have included a broken left orbital in May 2008, followed by an upper body injury late in the year. In the time he’s been in the rink, however, he has managed to score three goals and five points in the 28 games he has played in the season. Betts has also suffered from knee, foot and face injuries as a Ranger.

Of course, ice hockey in the NHL can be a rough and tumble game and many defensive players can get injured from rough play or fights on the rink. Blair Betts, at 28 years old, has been playing professionally since 2000, when he joined the AHL, Calgary Flames.

He actually began his career in 1996 playing for the Prince George Cougars in the Western Hockey League, before being drafted by the Flames in the 1998 NHL draft. Some may wonder if it is taking a toll on his health and ability to be a consistent player.

In the 2005-06 NHL hockey season, he scored eight goals and two assists with the New York Rangers. Since that time, he has been used primarily on special teams and has done well in penalty killing and winning face-offs.

In his NHL career, Betts has racked up 27 goals and 18 assists, mostly while playing for the New York Rangers. The Rangers are going through tough times at the moment – and his being sidelined for injuries is probably not helping matters any. However, many believe that the Rangers have a great defensive line; but it is their offense which is not up to snuff.

Experts blame the Rangers last place position on a lack of confidence and a failure of the players to gel as a team. Whether Blair Betts can do much to help bring the Rangers out of the slump remains to be seen. Other players, and Rangers General Manager, Sather could shoulder much of the blame. Blair Betts has a lot of work cut out for him with this team, and could probably do better on one that would do him justice.

Think island and state park together, think protected and beautiful, with the only man-made additions being a snack shop, ranger station, playground, picnic areas, gift store, and marina. Caledesi Island beach has been voted the #1 beach in the U.S. in 2008.

You have three options to get to Caledesi Island, a ferry, your own boat, or you can walk from Clearwater to Caledesi, which is about one hour from Pier 60. The ferry runs from 10 am to sundown. Ferry passengers are allowed to stay up to four hours, though I would check into that more as it may have changed for longer stays. If you have a boat you can dock it at marina #108 and register with the ranger.

Private boat users can access electrical and water hookups. Leave the pets elsewhere or keep them on a leash, which also results in being only in designated areas if you have a pet with you. Caledesi is a day trip as there is no camping, though sleeping in your boat may be an option.

Live shells, including sand dollars, are not to be taken. Otherwise, enjoy the shelling, kayaking, fishing, sunbathing, public picnic areas or rented picnic facilities, playground for the children if the beach is not enough. Kayak rentals are through the Caf Caledesi.or a vendor near the beach. Check ahead of time regarding fishing licenses. This Gulf beach is 3 miles long with beautiful water, not deep for those with young children.

They say to bring a sweater and good shoes, but as I write this, it is a warm 78 degrees F at 11 am at the end of March, so think swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen also. Public showers and restrooms are available. A lifeguard is on duty from the end of May to beginning of September. Beach wheelchairs are available from the ranger. Beach chairs and umbrellas can be rented. Have fun and respect the beauty of this natural resource.

Arnold Daniel Palmer was born on September 10, 1929 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, or as the residents there call it “Laaatrobe,” with an emphasis on the “A.” Considered to be one of the greatest golf players in history he has won a number of events including the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour dating back to 1955. Given the nickname, “The King,” he is popular among both fans and golf pros around the world. Part of golf’s Big Three that included Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, with the emergence of televised sports in the 1950′s, Palmer and his Big Three buddies made golf interesting, and watchable.

Arnold’s father Deacon Palmer was a greens keeper at the Latrobe Country Club (which Palmer bought in 1971), where he learned the game on the then nine hole course there. When he was only seven years old, he scored an impressive 70 – quite an achievement for a seven year old.

It should come as no surprise that Palmer went to Wake Forest University on a golf scholarship; afterwards, he served in the Coast Guard for three years, keeping his golf skills sharp all the while. During his stint in the Coast Guard, he married Winifred Walker, whom he met at a golf tournament in Pennsylvania. In his first season, Palmer came out on top in the Canadian open – he followed up this impressive win with something of a charm offensive, quickly becoming a fan favorite and helping to increase the popularity of the game.

He won his first major championship at the 1958 Masters and by 1960, he claimed his title as one of golf’s leading stars. Signing with sports agent Mark McCormack, in 1960, McCormack was asked in later years what made Arnold so special. He replied, “his good looks, his modest background, the way he played golf, his risk taking and wearing his heart on his sleeve, and his involvement in so many exciting early televised finishes.” Palmer was one the first US player to win The Open Championship in England-Ben Hogan won it in 1953; making Arnold an international star in the eyes of golf fans everywhere. Arnold won seven major championships including The Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962, and 1964; the US Open in 1960; and, The Open Championship in 1961 and 1962. His best years were perhaps 1960-1963 where he championed 29 PGA Tour events in just four seasons.

In 1960, Arnold was named Sports Illustrated top pro athlete of the year and he won the Sportsman of the Year award. His fans, known as “Arnie’s Army,” cheered when their Arnie became the first man to reach one million dollars in career earnings in 1967. Even with pros like Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player playing alongside him, Arnold managed to win a PGA Tour every year all the way up to 1970 and in 1971 he enjoyed a rejuvenation of his career winning four events.

The winner of four Vardon Trophies for low average score and a member on six different Ryder Cup teams, Palmer was by 1980 eligible for the PGA Senior Tour – an event which his famous name brought success to. The event would eventually be renamed the Champions Tour; Palmer won ten events on this tour and thanks to the talent of his agent McCormack, Palmer earned more in endorsements, charity events and sponsorships than any other player in the sport. Arnold Palmer has even won the highest honor given to civilians in the US – the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award, which was presented to Palmer by President Bush.

Palmer made his 50th and last appearance in the Masters in 2004. After failing to make the cut for the 2005 Senior Open, Palmer announced that he would no longer compete in the Senior Majors. However, in 2004 he made one of his greatest shots, getting onto the 18th green in his second shot from more than 200 yards. Even Palmer himself was impressed.

Arnold Palmer no longer plays competitively, but stays active in the world of golf. He is involved in the Bay Hill Club and Lodge, which hosts the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He was one of the developers of the Golf Channel and helped to build one of the first golf courses in China and founded the Arnold Palmer Design Company. Ranked the sixth best player of all time by Golf Digest, Palmer has also won the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Arnold Palmer now resides in Orlando, FL where he stays on top of developments in the golf world and still enjoys a good game of golf.
