A dog is a man’s best friend and I am sure all dog owners will agree wholeheartedly with me and the welcome wag of its tail and the friendly lick can make you smile even after a hard bothersome day at work.

Dogs are invariably there when you want them, ready to go out for a walk if you are or just keeping you company when you would opt for a night in. They will never complain that you haven’t the energy for that walk you promised them the day before, or the bath they so urgently need.

Other than love, there are few ways we can really show our appreciation for the love and companionship a dog provides except by keeping them in first class health which can be done with a dog insurance plan.

Pet insurance providers know how essential pets are to people and can arrange a big number of health plans that can cover nearly every type of position. Dogs of all breeds and ages can benefit and avail the advantages of such dog insurance policies as it is not only simple on the pocket of the owners but also helps to provide the best care for the dogs as such medical attention becomes easily affordable with the insurance.

Technology can be it’s own downfall often and as medical treatment for pets improves, so does the price and many treatments that are available now, which weren’t a few years ago, are very expensive.

Treatments like a hip replacement or kidney transplant which were earlier unthinkable in case of animals are now being provided for animals. Some dog conditions are genetic like heart enlargement, epilepsy and even hip dysplasia.

Many diseases that dogs are prone to suffer from do not happen until they reach middle age and of course by then, the dog is a member of a family and loved by everyone. This type of dog insurance plan does mean that providing health care for them does not become a matter of financial worry, frustration or even stress which is something some dog owners feel when it comes to paying out thousands of dollars for medical treatment.

Many owners underestimate just how much time a dog needs when it comes to ensuring their continued good health and while they are great companions they are prone to a number of parasites; these like to make their home on a dog.

All of this and more should be part of the regular check a dog has when they visits the vet and is incorporated into most policies. If such care is taken it will guarantee a happy and loving association between the dog and his owner.

This should mean that your dogs health requirements are continued, ensuring they have a long fulfilling life as part of the immediate family. Finding the correct plan that will suit everything you need could be as simple as asking a friend who has dog insurance to the veterinarian who will know all the companies and might be able to suggest a good one to approach.

Boston Terrier background – Boston Terriers originate from the United States of America. It is noted that the first Boston terrier was called Hooper’s Judge. He was a cross between English Bulldog and White English Terrier bred somewhere in the 1860′s. Boston’s where originally bred for fighting purposes.

How to spot a Boston Terrier- Boston’s are small dogs with muscular bodies. Their chests are broad and necks slightly bent. Their facial features are prominent especially the eyes and nose. The eyes are big, dark and lively. The nose rather boxy in shape. They have typical terrier ears- small and sharp. Pelt colors range from black, brown and brindle with combination of white. Minimum cutting, shaving and general grooming is required. These dogs are the ultimate no mess or fuss pet.

Doggy dimensions – Standing tall at rather impressive 38 to 43 cm for a small dog and weighing in at between 5-11 Kilograms, these dogs are well built when comparing their height to weight. However there are International show weight standards for Boston’s of no less than 5 Kilograms or more than 12.5 Kilograms to fall within a perfect range. It is very important that the dogs’ frame be considered when the weight is calculated.

Perfect Personality- These dogs have perfect personalities being both strong and loving. However it is important to keep in mind that animals have different personalities just as humans do, ranging form charming to plain rude. Boston’s tend to be a little neurotic and this can lead to over activeness and non-stop yapping. A great advantage to the breed is the ease of training due to the dogs’ super intelligence, voice tone sensitivity and eagerness to learn new things. Boston terriers are wonderful house dogs once trained. The method of training employed is the most important facet to determine ultimate success and duration of training process. Strict or harsh training methods should be avoided entirely as it will just pressurize and increase nerves of the already hyperactive dog.

Health problems- Due to inbreeding and poor breeding practice Boston’s generally have more health problems than other dogs especially in the form of mental retardation. Some chronic problems include snoring, grunting, drooling and breathing difficulties. Eye problems are common due to the prominent positioning of the eyes. Natural births are very rare due to the narrow shape of the pelvis and large head-size of the puppies.

Healthy pet- Balance is key to keeping your doggy happy and health. Work out a balanced exercise and dietary program to eliminate over-activity and illness. Long walks, running and playing is a must to the fitness regime. Severe gases and obesity can be cause be fatty and high fiber diets.

Living conditions- Boston’s adapt to any size home and play area from apartments to farms. As long as there is a park or playground close by for regular exercise the dog will be satisfied.

Age Expectancy- The dog’s age expectancy is dependent upon his or her diet and level of activity. Your little yank companion can reach age 15 years and older.
